Component 1; Create Your Magnetic Core

By Jon Clayton

general-disscussion-forum1In Tuesday’s post, I wrote about the 5 key components of building your own internet traffic machine which would, in turn, generate prospects within your target market. As we go into the internet presenting ourselves and advertising our opportunity; we have got to drive these potential prospects to a place where they can become acquainted with us and our opportunity. This is really a high tech application of relationship marketing.

So, how is that done exactly? That is done by creating an internet site that will serve as a central hub, so to speak, for all of our internet activities. This site will contain personal as well as professional material. It is a site where people can come and get to know us at their own pace. This will be a site features a certain amount of interaction as well. We will place information which will help people and perhaps entertains them too.
This type of internet site is called a blog. Over time, blogs will contain a wealth of information about a person and their business. People can be informed, entertained, and edified. And you can easily create and maintain a blog with little, if any, technical experience. This can also be done on a very small budget.

Your blog is your internet identity. It presents you as a real person. It also presents your business opportunity and any affiliate programs you represent. From this platform you will create and publish information for your target audience. As you create trust and rapport with your target audience, you earn the right to present your business as a high quality option for people to consider. As you go through the fabulous world of the internet interacting on social networks, bookmarking sites, forums, marketing, and advertising you will anchor these activities back to your blog. This is a place where you will drive interested people from your target audience to go to get to know you and, in turn, your business.

This will serve as the beginning of a sales funnel. This is where interested people will find out about you, what you do, and how you do it. Again, this is a modern application of relationship marketing. As they sort through the information you place on your blog, they will move through the process to become a customer or even a business partner.

Wee’ how is that done? I can’t possibly do that. I wouldn’t know what to write. I would be out of ideas in less than a week! What then? Well, slow down cowboys and ladies, let’s pick up on this theme again early next week. See you then.

I always try to find out as much as I can about a person. People work with people. Put yourself out there, do create a blog. Make sure it isn’t all business or all personal. But let someone really get to know who you are. This is awesome advice, thanks!

I like the title of this as it makes me want to read further - a good example of how important it is to have quality content when building a powerful Internet Traffic machine.

Creating a blog and an image online is hard. Internet marketing is all about branding yourself so you need at all times to be honest, professional and have integretity. I look forward to your next post on this subject.

Hi five folks - cool title - no one should just jump in to promoting a website until these basic tactics have been implemented - the only trouble is most folks simply do not take the time and effort to make sure their sites meet all the components needed to make the website work for them - so it will be interesting when you reveal these concepts to help one and all achieve these core principles..

All my best to you and yours

Very good post Jon, educational, entertaining and enlightening… you write with clarity and an obvious passion. It is an area that so many, would be blog authors over-look.

There is no doubt in my mind that building a relationship with your customers on a personal basis is the key to many business successes.

Failing build such a relationship is also the key to many business failures - for example, when did you last see your Bank Manager?

The internet provides a rare opportunity to re-kindle this healthy aspect of business community.

A couple of things I really like about what you said.

First, the idea of putting together overall strategy is something a lot of people miss all together. You can’t treat all of your online channels independently.

Second, you’re absolutely right, the better you can create a cohesive online presence, the stronger you’ll be able to connect with people and build the know-like-trust factor.

Relationships are what’s it all about these days, and blogs are great places to create and maintain those relationships.

Think about it - there aren’t many people who want to be sold to, but there are lots of people who are looking for friends. Once you’ve earned their trust, then they might consider buying from you. The key thing is to be their friend whether or not they ever buy anything from you.

Thanks for the insightful post.

Marketers must remember to think like a consumer. I hate when I walk into a store and before I even start browsing, the sales person jumps in with a sales pitch. Relationship building is the key to new internet marketing.

Blogs make fantastic focal points (cores, central hubs, etc.) for any online information delivery venture (marketing or otherwise) because they are (or should be) value/educationally oriented. As you stated in your post Jon, this allows the blogger to move beyond simple message delivery and facilitates building an actual relationship with the visitor. This in turn leads to people becoming repeat visitors then to customers (or supporters depending in the campaign) and possibly more in the future. Great insight … thanks for sharing …

[...] Last week I mentioned the the discussion of the 5 Key Components of Your Internet Traffic Machine would continue this week. The fact is I need a little more than 3 days for the 4th of July weekend. Cheryl and I are going to get away for a couple of days. I also need some time to consider my progress this year and plan out the rest of the year. There will be new posts on JonClaytonBizBlog as well as Random Thoughts On Life. Beginning Monday of next week, I will resume an agressive posting schedule. Once the 5 Key Components are finished, I will go through each component in greater detail. See you then… [...]
